The Valencia circuit, also called 'Circuit Ricardo Tormo' (in memory of the Spanish Valencian motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo who died in 1998), was built in 1999 less than 20 km from the city center. The airport is about 5 km away. It is often used by F1 and MotoGP teams during winter testing. The Valencia circuit offers a rather technical layout with optimal safety.
