The permanent Jerez circuit (Circuito Permanente de Jerez) is a racing circuit located in southern Spain about ten kilometers from Jerez de la Frontera, in the heart of the Spanish vineyards. The circuit was inaugurated on December 8, 1985, before hosting its first motorcycle Grand Prix the following year and then its first Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix. Despite memorable episodes such as Ayrton Senna's victory by 14 thousandths of a second over second place in 1986, the Spanish Grand Prix moved to Barcelona for the 1991 Spanish Grand Prix.
